1. JOIN THE TAGGING MY WORLD PROJECT.  Our iEARN project is finally ready for the rest of the world to join. Students research and analyze various artists and styles. They brainstorm teenage interests, values and issues, collecting images that symbolize them.  We have two sessions of the project scheduled over the next 4 months.  See http://media.iearn.org/projects/myworld.  Questions?  Contact Stephen MacKinnon (Canada) <stephen.mackinnon@ucdsb.on.ca>.

2. JOIN THOUSANDS OF TALKING KITES PROJECT PARTICIPANTS IN FLYING KITES IN MARCH 2010.   The Association for Art in the Community thanks the iEARN organization for the solid ground it provides for creating communication between all people from all nations. The Talking Kites Worldwide project will go on air for the fifth time this spring when thousands of people from all over the world will fly kites that communicate with "the other." 3. MAGICAL MOMENTS AROUND THE WORLD IS TRAVELING - SHARE YOUR MAGICAL MOMENTS AND PASS THE BOOK ON.  In this way the book travels the "4 corners of the world". Classes around the world are invited to join "Magical Moments Around the World". Students unite in sharing their magical moments in a global online book.  Showing youth that their personal magical moment is part of a human web that transcends borders is of incredible human value, and promotes values such as compassion and tolerance. Youth from 18 countries have posted their magical moments and can be viewed at www.magicalmoment.net/EN/mm.htm Questions?  Contact Gal Kleinman (Israel) at contact@magicalmoment.net

4. REGISTER FOR THE NEXT SESSION OF iEARN ONLINE PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT COURSES FOR EDUCATORS.  iEARN-USA offers online courses that bring together participants from around the world.  Next session: Feb 22-April 18, 2010.  Each 8-week course helps educators outline how to integrate a standards-based iEARN project into their curriculum.  Courses include: Creative Arts; Language Arts/Writing; Social Studies/Contemporary Affairs/Geography; Science, Technology and Math; Teaching of Foreign and Second Languages; and Learning Circles. 5. LATEST ISSUE OF "A WORLD AWAITS YOU" JOURNAL IS NOW AVAILABLE - VOLUNTEERING ABROAD WITH A DISABILITY. Published by Mobility International USA.  http://www.miusa.org/newsitems/announceaway
 
6. JEARN AND iEARN-KENYA WILL COOPERATE TO BUILD SCHOOL IN KAIMOSI, KENYA.  Suwako Nagata from JEARN and Ombajo Edward are cooperating for the project of "Kenya School Project".  The school name is "NEGAI International Education Centre".  "NEGAI" is an iEARN project coordinated by Suwako since 2003. "NEGAI (Our Wish)" is a peace song made by Hiroshima students in 2002 and Suwako introduced this song through the JEARN website - http://www.jearn.jp/eng/.  Now it has about 2000 peace verses and is the world longest song.  Suwako met Edward in the "Youth Summit for the Environment in Kobe" in 2008 and they agreed to promote a new school. They have developed their plan and the school is now being built in Kaimosi, Kenya! It will start from January, 2011, teaching youth (14 years and up), sustainable development, Japanese, ICT, and agriculture. Suwako and her husband will move to Kenya in 2010 to teach Kenyan children. 7. MY HERO CELEBRATES WORLD COMMUNITY ARTS DAY.  The MY HERO Project invites iEARN teachers everywhere to join us in celebrating World Community Arts Day.  The idea is simple: create any kind of art on Feb. 17th that promotes caring and sharing.  All submissions to http://myhero.com will be included in MyHero.com’s World Community Arts Day feature.  For information and support, contact <david@myheroproject.org> (USA).

9. MEARN (iEARN-MOROCCO) HOSTS CONNECTING CLASSROOM ONLINE TRAINING WORKSHOP, EL JADIDA CITY, MOROCCO, FEBRUARY 3-4.  MEARN, in collaboration with the British Council - Morocco, will be hosting the first Connecting Classroom Online Training Workshop at the Ange Bleuei Private School.  The workshop will be facilitated by Mohammed Hassim, MATE board member and supervisor of English, and Nour Eddine Laouni, MEARN Board Members and Teacher of English.  Post greetings in the Teachers Forum: http://foro.iearn.org/webx/iearnforums/teachers/9409

11. YouthCaN ENVIRONMENTAL CONFERENCE, NYC, USA, APRIL 24-26, 2010. The New York City event will be held on April 26th at the American Museum of Natural History in New York City, USA. See http://www.youthcanworld.org for details of this and other YouthCaN events happening around the world. YouthCaN is a year-round network within iEARN of students using telecommunications for environmental project work. 

12. 13. 2010 NATURAL DISASTER YOUTH SUMMIT TO BE HELD IN TURKEY, AUGUST 23-27, 2010.  The summit was started by the Japanese team, and has been held since 2005. The participation of 300 students  (150 students from abroad and 150 students from Turkey) has been  planned for this year.  Registration and more information can be found at  http://www.ndysturkiye.com/ For more about the Natural Disaster Youth Summit, see http://ndys.jearn.jp/
